Devoto Design at FAR 2024: Innovation and Parametrization
Devoto Design at FAR 2024: we have proudly taken part in FAR 2024, the Festival of Architettura of Rome. Beyond our involvement in the realization and installation of “In Orbita”, we showcased our dedication to design innovation through a Technical Focus on the parametrization of complex surfaces.
Devoto Design is proud to be part of FAR 2024, the renowned Rome Architecture Festival, held from September 26th to October 6th, 2024. We not only contributed to the installation of ‘In Orbita’ but also presented a specific Technical Focus on the ‘Parametrization of Complex Surfaces‘, a topic that highlights our commitment to design innovation.
WE DECIDED TO TAKE PART IN THE REALIZATION of the social “platform” In Orbita, because we wanted to give something to our beloved Rome. We work worldwide, and we love it, but Rome is home, and we liked the idea of doing something to make it even more beautiful! (Marianna Devoto, CCO and CMO)
The installation of “In Orbita” at FAR 2024 – A place for Urban Connections
As one of the technical sponsors, Devoto Design contributed to the realization of “In Orbita”, an installation designed by OUT Architecture in collaboration with ASAP.
Located in Rome, Largo Ettore Rolli, this installation represents a urban satellite, designed to promote street culture and street arts. “In Orbita” creates a bridge between people and urban spaces, encouraging interactions and conversations, an idea that perfectly depicts the essence of urban art in modern cities.
Technical Focus of Devoto Design at FAR 2024 – Parametrization of complex surfaces
Our contribution to FAR went beyond this art installation. On September 27th, at the Casa dell’Architettura, we led a Technical Focus in collaboration with I.CO.L, delving into the topic of ‘Parametrization of Complex Surfaces: how to turn them into simple elements‘
During this meeting, our experts explored the advanced digital fabrication technologies and their application to the engineering of organic and double-curving surfaces. Thanks to these technologies, it is possible to turn complex shapes into construable and simple elements, creating new frontiers for parametric design.
The projects – our successful case studies
During the Technical Focus, we presented some emblematic case studies that best showcase our potential in the digital fabrication applied to complex surfaces:
- ARCHIVE DESK at MAXXI museum of Rome, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects;
- TABARKA HOTEL LA CIGALE RECEPTION DESK, designed by us;
- SEAT at the MUSEE du QUAI BRANLY of Paris, designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel;
- WOODEN CANYON at the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF QATAR, designed by KTA;
- VERTIGO RESTAURANT in Doha, designed by Jacques Garcia
These projects show the way advanced technologies can tackle complex challenges in the creation of non-linear and organic surfaces, using a cutting-edge engineering approach.
Shaping the Future – Devoto Design’s Commitment to Innovation
FAR 2024 has been a great opportunity for Devoto Design to share our innovative vision and our advanced skills in parametric design.
As Claudio Devoto himself said during the Focus, we will keep pushing the frontiers of technology, with new projects that will help further revolutionize the world of design.
